What does homeowners insurance cover? Farmer's Insurance offers multiple types of home insurance coverage's such as:
- Property: covers your home and other structures on your property such as sheds and detached garages
- Possessions: includes Contents Replacement Cost, which pays for repair or replacement of your belongings
- Liability: covers someone else's bodily injuries or property damage as well as destructive or harmful behavior from your pets
- Medical payments: pays for medical bills for people who don't live in your home
- Living expenses: applies if damage to your home makes it uninhabitable for a period of time
- Estimate the cost of rebuilding your home. The cost of rebuilding your home is very different from the price you paid for your home. Consider any renovations you've made, the age of your home, and contractor prices in your area.
- Take inventory of your personal property. Estimate the value of everything in your home and take pictures of everything. Keep your inventory in a place outside your home, and update it each time you acquire new things.
- Consider your assets. Lawsuits against you can be a serious threat to your financial status. Considering your net worth is a good way to predict how much coverage you will need. If you have a high net worth, consider an umbrella policy.
- replace your roof if it is over six years old
- purchase multiple policies with Farmers Insurance
